THE LIPSTICK

John hates modern architecture | Lilou is not as radical | We learn why Lilou does not work in a skyscraper

John: Modern architecture is so ugly. It can be nice on rare occasions, but overall it’s just disgusting, isn’t it?

Lilou: I think it differs a lot. A lot of modern architecture focuses on blending in with the surroundings which I like, but when shoving in glass buildings in areas with older buildings it’s hideous. I think one must always think of the surroundings before building something new.

John: If done tastefully I can agree. Like if you have an entire area of buildings that look like something from Mars, but most of the time it just feels as if architects nowadays try to create…

Lilou: …Landmarks.

John: Exactly. Landmarks that just makes me want to burp. Take for instance “the Lipstick” in Gothenburg that is on the picture. It looks awful.

Lilou: It’s actually one of the most expensive office buildings in Gothenburg. I was supposed to be working there but the company I worked for went bankrupt.

John: Doesn’t surprise me, either of it. Fancy people have no taste and companies who turn to fancy people go bankrupt sooner or later because they do the Icarus flight and fall down.

Lilou: Yeah, and the CEO was a sociopath. Charming yet…

John: …A complete liar?

Lilou: A big spender with small pockets.

John: That is a nice way of putting it.
